KCSE 2018 RESULTS
KCSE 2018 results have been released.The Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed released the results at Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) headquarters on Dennis Pritt Road.
According to the results, a total of 315 candidates scored Grade A compared to 2017 when only 142 candidates managed Grade A.
The KCSE 2018 results were an improvement compared to bot 2017 and 2016 results. In KCSE 2018, those who scored C+ and above, is 90,377 compared to 70,073 in 2017.
The best candidate for 2018 is Juliet Otieno from Pangani Girls, Nairobi. She scored an A of 87.664 points. She was followed closely by James Kanuna from Maseno School, Edwin Otieno Ouko of Light Academy, Ian Duncan Mwangi of Moi High School Kabarak and Humphrey Rasugu of Maseno School coming in at third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.
18 counties had more females than male compared to 17 counties last year. These include Taita taveta, Kwale, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Kitui, Meru, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Murang’a, Kiambu, Machakos, Makueni, Tharaka Nithi, Nandi, Laikipia, Kakamega, Vihiga and Kisumu. Female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in English, Kiswahili, CRE, Homescience and Metal Work.
However,the CS reported that the results of about 100 students were cancelled while 110 people were arretyed during for cheating and four candidates de-registered for impersonation.
A total of 660, 204 candidates sat exams this year with 338, 628 being male and 321, 576 female.
Among the success stories of KCSE 2018 is one of Josephat Kamau Mwangi, who managed 277 marks in KCPE exams and who was named the most improved student after scoring a mean score of A – Minus in the KCSE
